Our pdf icon draft strategy [596kb] details the overarching vision and direction for the next five years for the SEND system across West Berkshire. Our aim is for West Berkshire to be a place where every child or young person with SEND has a chance to succeed, and where no one gets left behind. It is also our commitment to improve the whole life outcomes of all children and young people with SEND, ensuring that that all local children reach their potential and are effectively prepared for their life beyond school, training and further education.

To achieve our ambitions for children and young people with SEND, we will continue to focus on closing the gap between those who already do well and those who may need extra support to thrive.

Why do we want your views?

Our pdf icon draft strategy [596kb] represents a significant and radical review of the West Berkshire SEND system and has implications for future financial decision-making. It also signifies a cultural change in the way we approach, plan and deliver our support for children and young people with SEND.

To help shape our draft strategy into a final plan for Special Education Needs and Disabilities for the next five years, we want to gather the views of children and young people with SEND, their families and carers, professionals and practitioners in our partner agencies across all sectors including health, education, social care, schools and colleges, the voluntary and community sector.
